:: Action has been taken ::

OK I have a new blog up. I'm still tweaking it so I wont make any formal entries. The beta version is up at www.joannasim.com/blog. Take a look and let me know what you think eh? Registration will be required for private posts of course. I mean that's the whole point. And right now I'm contemplating on whether or not I should even password-protect the entire blog. Oh well.

:: Goodbye to international text messaging ::

So tombile has changed their policies on my supposedy unlimited text messaging plan (apparently they reserve the right to change policies withotu notifying the customer). Now if i receive international text messages it is $0.05. And if i send it, it is $0.15. I think that is total day light robbery. Anyways I guess the underlying message is, try to mobile text message me over aim/aol/ichat (screenname: snufericious) or at www.tmobile.com/messaging. Or even on yahoo messager. I am trying to look into more avenues with other service providers about resolving this problem. ARGH. Those in the US, keep those text messages coming!!!
p.s. it has also come to my attention that there are lurkers on my blog and there is ONE individual in particular that i really do NOT want reading my blog (it's not Mulder). It's a "she" actually. Anyways, ever since I started hosting on futurequest, I am getting alot of  stats about where my viewers are coming from and traffic info etc. Well the bottom line is, I am going to start password protecting. It's a long and ardous process but  I'm going to do it. If you want a username/password, you're gonna have to ping me somehow! I am certain I know 99% of my readers' identities but there is this ONE individual whom I must guard against. Anyways, just a headsup. I dont know when this password thing is going to take place.

:: September - EWF ::

Inspired by Bananasinpyjama's "world-famous" comment, my latest music video will feature some of the world-famous "things" of New Orleans. Download it here! When viewing it on Windows media player, try reducing the video size to 50% (View --> video size --> 50%).

:: home sweet home ::

Goodbye to the Radisson New Orleans, thank God. That hotel really stinks. The highlight of today is my 4 hour layover in Chicago. I zoomed down to downtown in a train to catch up with Jalapeno Chips. She showed me around her new apartment and we also loaded up on M&M's palobok (did i spell right?) and Jalapeno's Tiramisu. I'm so happy that they actually cooked for me! I chilled out with Jalapeno for a bit before we left for the airport again. Thanks again to united and I managed to get upgraded to First Class. Man, I really like the service and stuff. I'm currently addicted to Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons" so instead of getting some sleep on the flight I spent most of it reading. (We really need sleep. Slept at 5am and woke up at 7am.) Thanks MUCH to Mixed nuts for coming to get me at the airport. It feels ssoooo good to be home. Really. Especially with that mini scare Ivan gave us while we were there.
I miss Natural COcoa and Jalapeno Already... bawwwwwllll.....
Ok the lowdown on new orleans: It's a "been there, done that" thing now so I definitely wont go again. Great good and great music. I dont think the whole mardi gras scene is for me. But preservation hall's live music was really something. I'm already very fat so I'm glad I dont live there cos things would be alot worse. On the whole, new orleans is just a dump. Really. French Quarter and Garden District does offer *some* redemption. The rest of the pictures have been uploaded at the usual yahoo spot. I am going offline to finish up my book!!! :P

:: down by the bayou ::

Took a swamp tour today and I held a baby alligator!!! So cute!!! You know how I love alligators. Anyways, pictures posted at the usual spot. I'm really tired now and tonight is supposed to be a night of serious partying with my classmates. I feel like I'm too old to handle it? Yikes. We went to Elizabeth's AGAIN and tried a whole bunch of new things but it was awesome..... We might go there for breakfast again. if you're in new orleans, MAKE SURE u go to elizabeth's. It's not in the french quarter, but it's worth it.

:: hello microsoft! ::

So it was really a great day yesterday. I got to interview with a company that I've been DYING to work for. The manager, Steve Scallen, was a really pleasant person to interview with and I enjoyed the interview thoroughly. There appears to be some hope that I'll actually get to work with him and I'll hear news as soon as next week. But this also means that a. I might have to speed up my masters pronto b. I might have to move to seattle (eeks... move again???).
The interview with Oracle was less than average. I mean they asked me really textbook questions that I wasnt very prepared to answer... define this, what is this, when do you use this... etc etc. And Oracle is a database company so... boorrriiiinggg.... I liked the microsoft interview way better. I could see that they were genuinely interested in how good a fit I would be for them etc.
We visited the Oak Alley Plantation yesterday that was just beautiful and had one of the 2 best meals here. Creole food at Elizabeth's (bywater) and spanish food at Lola's(Esplanade). Came home and we crashed after watching Apprentice and ER.
Today is the last day of the conference and we plan on going on a swamp tour somewhere. Oh I rented a car so it's been great in terms of getting around. Hehehe. Alright. I'm outta here. Gotta shower and get ready. xoxo.

:: 25c martinis for the 25 year old ::

This morning was great cos of 3 reasons.
1. I really enjoyed myself at the conference lectures.
2. I have 2 job interviews lined up tmrw at the conference placement center (oracle and microsoft!!!)
3. I'm 25 and I can now officially rent a car.
This mid-afternoon was great cos of a few reasons.
1. I spent it at this lovely lunch organized by Lambchops with Natural Cocoa as well that was just fabulous. 25c martinis? Can you beat that?
2. surrounded by 2 people that i love to death
3. Had the best garlic bread IN THE WORLD.
4. Very buzzed by 2pm
5. Very hungover by 4pm
6. Got lovely phonecalls from sweeties all over the world that made the buzz madder
Now its 5pm I am awake and my 2 partners in crime have knocked-out. I guess that's what happens when you attempt to drink 6 martinis. Way to go Lambchops! At least it only cost you $1.50. I need to go to the mall to get a shirt for my interview tmrw. Everyone is so well dressed and as usual I came in tanktops and flipflops. Miss y'all!
